Christmas holidays have just ended but the magical atmosphere of the Carnival is already in the air..
“Carnevale di Fano”, in Marche region, is one of the most popular and entertaining event throughout Italy.
It will begin on January 24, with the first parade of floats; by floats will fall more than 200 tons of sweets for adults and children in the audience!
The second parade will take place the following Sunday, January 31, while the third and final parade on February 7, just before the Fat Thursday, Martedì Grasso.
The theme of the floats could not be indisputably political satire, a theme that characterizes the Carnival of Fano for many years.
Preparations for the floats are almost at the end now..
The preparation work of the floats begins in October; all the best teachers tankers along with dozens of artists, among them students and technical professionals join forces to give life to the realization of a traditional carnival, which counts more than 600 years old!
The last event in the end of the Carnival is the one with the cleansing ritual of “Burning of Pupo” during which, on the afternoon of Fat Tuesday, February 9, in the central Piazza XX Settembre, a puppet that is burned, according to tradition, it allows residents to atone for their “carnival sins“.
Last year we captured some precious moments of long and meticulous preparation and construction of the floats carried by the master and by all employees.
Here’s where the magic begins…
